Senators Ask IRS to Clarify PPACA Individual Mandate Enforcement

There remains a strong interest and concern on the part of many individuals on just how the government intends to actually implement and collect penalties from those individuals who, for one reason or another, choose not to obtain health care coverage for themselves and their immediate family members.

Consequently, a group of Republican senators recently asked IRS Commissioner John Koskinen to clarify how the Service will enforce the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act’s (PPACA’s) (P.L. 111-148), individual mandate tax. In a letter dated February 10 the senators said that, given the number of last-minute administrative adjustments made by the Obama administration, “…there is some understandable confusion and concern about the enforcement of the individual mandate tax.
